Structure of 2,5-dimethylhexane-2,5-diol at 293 K and of its dimer

Abstract: In the course of a photosynthesis of dimethylvinylmethanol two crystalline compounds were obtained as by-products and identified by X-ray crystallography as 2,5-dimethylhexane-2,5-diol and its dimer, 4,5-bis(2-hydroxy-2-propyl)-2,7-dimethyloctane-2,7-diol.
