Polarographic determination of colloids in sugar beet juices

Abstract: Application of a polarographic method in detn. of colloids in sugar-beet juices was studied. The addn. of surface-active matter depresses the O max. of 0.001N KCl. This fact can be applied in the detn. of colloids in diffusion and pressed sugar-beet juices. If the concn. of colloids is as low as 4 × 10-2 mg./ml., the Langmuir equation for the adsorption isotherm can be applied. This method is recommended for control of the alky. of the coagulation optimum.
